At John’s Crazy Socks, more than half our colleagues have a differing ability and many of them have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We love our colleagues and are fortunate that they work with us. They do great work and play a key role in helping us fulfill our mission to spread happiness.

We grow frustrated when we hear people make false assumptions or repeat false information about people with autism. In this article, we want to bust up eight falsehoods or misunderstandings about Autism.

Located in the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack, New York, the Independence Café employs people with differing abilities and carries products made by businesses led by or featuring people with differing abilities.

I am the Co-founder and Chief Happiness Officer at John’s Crazy Socks. People ask what I do so I thought I would share some of the things I do at work. It is Friday, so let me tell you about this week.
At John's Crazy Socks, we recently added 15 seasonal colleagues for the holiday rush and 12 of them have a differing ability. We always pause to hand deliver first paychecks to our colleagues and turn that into a Company celebration. It makes people so happy.
This year, John's Crazy Socks added fifteen seasonal employees, twelve of whom have differing abilities. 

Since the 1980s, October has been celebrated as Down Syndrome Awareness Month. At John’s Crazy Socks, we join the celebration by highlighting what people with Down syndrome can do. 

Our co-founder and inspiration, John Cronin, has Down syndrome. John will tell you, “I have Down syndrome, but Down syndrome never holds me back." 

John Cronin, the co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks, loves to support people with differing abilities. Yesterday, that commitment took him to the Opening Night of the Art Ability Art Show at the Spirit of Huntington Art Center. All of the artwork displayed at the show was made by artists with a differing ability.
