John’s Crazy Socks Introduces Police Tribute Socks

John’s Crazy Socks is introducing Police Tribute Socks that celebrate and honor the work performed by the police across the country. With imagery associated with the police – a police car, a hat, a shield – these socks carry the motto: Protect and Serve. John’s Crazy Socks will donate 10 percent from the sale of the Police Tribute Socks to the Police Activity League (PAL) of Nassau County.

“I want to honor and thank police officers for the work they do,” said John Cronin, co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks. “They put their lives on the line to protect us and help keep us safe. I have become friends with many police officers and we want to show our gratitude for all that they do.”

John’s co-founder and father, Mark X. Cronin, said, “We listen to police officers and their families and the risk they take every day is palpable, yet they still go out there protecting us. We felt it important to honor their commitment.”

Tony Walker, President of The Special Needs Unit of the Nassau County PAL, said, “We are excited to work with John’s Crazy Socks. We appreciate their financial support for our programs, but even more, we are grateful for their support of the programs we offer at the PAL and the support that John and his team show for the police.”

The Nassau County PAL provides dozens of sports, craft and educational programs for the young people of Nassau County. They work to prevent juvenile delinquency, steer children clear from gang activity and to aid in the positive interaction of Police Officers and Youth.

Mark X. Cronin said, “We appreciate the work of the PAL. They provide dozens of programs for youth and they are inclusive as their programs welcome athletes with differing abilities.”

Mark coached basketball, lacrosse and football in a PAL program so he has seen first-hand what the PAL can do for young people.

A Special Event to Introduce the Police Tribute Socks

On Friday, September 15, 2023, John will formally introduce the Police Tribute Socks at an event with the Nassau County Police Activity League. John will attend a basketball program at the PAL Headquarters in Hicksville at 167 South Broadway. John will show off the Police Tribute Socks, thank the PAL and the dedication of the police officers supporting the PAL. He will also bring gift packages for the athletes.

The Giving Back Program at John’s Crazy Socks

The Police Tribute Socks are part of the Giving Back Program at John’s Crazy Socks. We don't think it's enough to just sell stuff, we think it is important to give back to the community. Our Giving Back Program began on day one when John Cronin, our co-founder, committed to donating five percent of earnings to the Special Olympics.

“I am a Special Olympic athlete,” said John.

John’s Crazy Socks has added a growing list of Awareness Socks and Charity Socks that raise awareness and celebrate causes and raise money for our charity partners. Our first Awareness Socks were Down Syndrome Awareness Socks that John designed. We have gone on to create socks around the themes of Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Willaims Syndrome and more as well as our First Responder Tribute Socks. These raise money for charity partners like the Special Olympics, the National Down Syndrome Society, the Autism Society of America and the North Shore Animal League America.

About John’s Crazy Socks

John’s Crazy Socks was inspired by John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome, and his love of colorful and fun socks—what he calls his “crazy socks.” He and his father, Mark X. Cronin, started the company as a social enterprise with a mission of Spreading Happiness™. With more than 4,000 socks, John’s Crazy Socks is now the world’s largest sock store. More than half their employees have a differing ability, and their Giving Back program has raised over $650,000 for charity partners like the Special Olympics, the National Down Syndrome Society, and the Autism Society of America. Most of all, they are Spreading Happiness™.
