John Cronin, co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks, competed in the Special Olympics New York State Summer Games in Ithaca alongside colleagues Andrew and Nick. John earned three medals in track and field events and celebrated with fellow athletes at the closing dance. The event brought together over 1,200 participants, showcasing dedication, sportsmanship, and joy. John’s Crazy Socks continues to support the Special Olympics through donations and sock sales, having contributed over $150,000 to date.
In May 2025, we raised $2,383.20 for our charity partners. Through May 2025, we have now raised more than $806,536 for our charity partners. Giving Back is an essential part of our mission, and we are excited by our ability to support others. We continue to learn that the more we can give, the happier we are.
We opt to close on Juneteenth, which is only natural for our organization. We celebrate diversity and inclusion. And just as importantly, we are a learning organization which means, in part, we are always trying to learn for our past so we can do better in the future.
How can a message of inclusion bring such division? How can a message of love bring out such hate? These questions haunt us every June as Pride month approaches and we prepare to celebrate what should be a time of joy and acceptance.
At John's Crazy Socks, we are on a mission to spread happiness, and much of that mission is based on inclusion. We want to champion the possibilities in each of us and in everyone we meet. It's only natural that we carry an array of Pride-themed socks. As John would say, they are colorful, creative, fun, and "let me be me."
Imagine working a full-time job and receiving a paycheck for $10 a week. Not $10 an hour, $10 for the entire week. For thousands of Americans with disabilities, this is reality. It is time to eliminate the subminimum wage.
I write this article to urge the New York State Assembly to pass Senate Bill S.28 and end the discriminatory, dehumanizing practice of paying people with disabilities less than the minimum wage.
