National Disability Employment Awareness Month marks 80 years of breaking barriers. What began in 1945 has grown into a nationwide movement driving inclusion, equity, and opportunity for people with disabilities—showcasing how advocacy, legislation, and innovation continue to transform the workplace.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)made it possible for John Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome, to pursue his dreams and build John’s Crazy Socks. This blog honors the ADA’s lasting impact on inclusion, opportunity, and the rights of people with differing abilities—showing how one piece of legislation helped shape a thriving business that spreads happiness and empowers others.

At John’s Crazy Socks, we believe every voice should be heard at the polls. Our co-founder, John Cronin, who has Down syndrome, leads by example as an active and informed voter. Learn about the importance of accessible voting for people with differing abilities and how we can all help make democracy more inclusive.
