On World Alzheimer’s Day, we share our family’s personal connection to Alzheimer’s and its strong link to Down syndrome. With John at higher risk and Mamo already living with the disease, we are raising awareness, supporting research, and giving back through our Alzheimer’s Awareness Socks and ongoing charity work. Join us in spreading hope and action for all families affected.

People with Down syndrome face a high risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease, a reality that is deeply personal for our family. At John’s Crazy Socks, we honor loved ones like Mamo, raise awareness through Alzheimer’s Awareness Socks, and support research with partners like LuMind IDSC. By sharing knowledge, encouraging early action, and fueling hope in new treatments, we aim to support families and build a brighter future.

John Cronin, co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks, joined LuMind IDSC for an inspiring evening focused on Alzheimer’s in the Down syndrome community. With 92% of people with Down syndrome at risk, this event highlighted the urgent need for research and support. John and his family not only attended but also participate in critical studies and advocacy efforts. Read more about how they’re helping bridge hope and action, one sock at a time.

There is an awful reality that confronts people with Dwon syndrome and their families: nearly every person with Down syndrome will develop Alzheimer’s. Despite this foreboding future, people with Down syndrome are barred from the promising trials of drugs to address Alzheimer's disease, drugs that could change the future for thousands of people with Down syndrome. This inequity needs to change.
John's Crazy Socks is introducing “Forget Me Not” Socks to honor and celebrate those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease as well as the loved ones who care for them. The Alzheimer’s Awareness socks will raise money for research into Alzheimer’s.
