John Cronin from John’s Crazy Socks delivered a very special box of custom socks to the Dolan Family Health Center. These socks celebrate 25 years of excellent and compassionate care delivered by the Dolan Family Health Center to the Huntington community. But these socks have a story behind them, a story that connects three Huntington Institutions: The Dolan Family Health Center, the Townwide Fund of Huntington and John’s Crazy Socks.
Back in February 2020, in the days before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Townwide Fund of Huntington honored John and Mark X. Cronin at their annual Snowball Gala. What a night it was with great fun, dancing, and support for a vital cause. Since its founding, the Townwide Fund of Huntington has raised more than $12 million and continues to infuse local health and human service organizations with the support they need to help the residents of Huntington.
Wanting to do our part to support the Townwide Fund, John’s Crazy Socks donated a custom socks package for the gala’s auction. The winner would get to design a pair of socks with John and then John’s Crazy Socks would produce the socks. John did his part by helping lead the auction. The bidding was fierce and frantic with one group of employees from the Dolan Health Center focused on winning this prize package. And win they did.
The result? John’s Crazy Socks raised over $2,000 for the Townwide Fund and the Dolan Family Health Center was on their way to getting some beautiful socks to celebrate 25 years of service.
“I loved helping design these socks,” said John. “The Dolan Family Health Center is very important to Huntington. And it is so important to support the Townwide Fund.”
Alice Marie Rorke, Executive Director of the Townwide Fund said, “That was a special night and what an outcome: money for the Townwide Fund and socks for the Family Health Center.”
Robert Nigro, the Director of Operations at the Dolan Family Health Center, said “These socks are so beautiful and mean so much to us here at the Dolan Family Health Center.”

Some non-profits have resold the custom socks to raise money as part of fundraising campaigns. For example, the Mamaroneck SEPTA made custom socks and sold them to raise money for their activities.
We have made them for non-profits like the Special Olympics and the National Down Syndrome Society. We have made them for businesses big (Microsoft, Google, Campbells, etc.) and small. And we have made them for individual customers.
