At John’s Crazy Socks, we believe that business can be a force for good and no one brings that mission to life quite like our co-founder and Chief Happiness Officer, John Cronin.
This week, John paid a special visit to Special Olympics New York, not just to say hello, but to deliver a very big check and an even bigger message of support.
A Visit Filled with Joy and Purpose
Special Olympics New York held an open house party at their new offices on Long Island. John brought with him our quarterly donation, part of our ongoing commitment to Special Olympics New York. Since day one, we’ve pledged to donate 5% of our earnings to this incredible organization that has meant so much to John and our entire team. This latest contribution is part of a total that now exceeds $150,000, largest amount ever donated by a Special Olympics athlete.
With a smile as bright as his socks, John greeted staff and fellow athletes, posed for pictures holding an oversized check, and brought his signature warmth to every interaction. It was a reminder that giving back isn’t just about money, it’s about connection, gratitude, and showing up.
“I love the Special Olympics,” John said. “They’ve given me so much. Now I get to give back.”
A Champion On and Off the Track
John’s visit came on the heels of a fun weekend at the Long Island Regional Special Olympic Games, where he competed in three track and field events: the 100-meter dash, the turbo javelin, and the 4x100 relay. His hard work and training paid off:John brought home a silver medal in the 100-meter dash!
John’s not slowing down: this weekend,he’ll hit the court in a Special Olympics basketball tournament with his team, the Commack Sharks.
More Than a Business — A Movement
Through John’s Crazy Socks, John is proving what people with differing abilities can achieve. As a Special Olympics athlete for over two decades,he’s experienced firsthand how sports build confidence, community, and character. It’s why we design socks that celebrate Special Olympics sports and donate aportion of each sale back to the cause.
But John’s impactdoesn’t stop with athletics. He and his dad, Mark X. Cronin, have donated over $800,000 toour charity partners through our Giving Back Program, supporting groups like the National Down Syndrome Society and the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.
“The keys to happiness are gratitude and doing for others,” John says. “That’s why we give back.”
