ACDS to Honor John Cronin of John’s Crazy Socks at Its Annual Gala
ACDS will honor John Cronin, co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks, at their Annual Gala, November 3, 2017. John is a proud graduate of the pre-school program operated by ACDS and ACDS is a charity partner of John’s Crazy Socks.
John Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome, co-founded John’s Crazy Socks with his father, Mark X. Cronin and John serves as the Chief Happiness Officer for the company which has a mission to “spread happiness through socks.” John is the face of the business and a role model as he demonstrates what people with special needs can do when given an opportunity.
“I have Down syndrome, but Down syndrome never holds me back,” says John.
Michael Smith, CEO of ACDS, says “We want to honor John not only for what he does for ACDS, but for what he represents. He is an example of why we work so hard to support our students and clients because given an opportunity they can make valuable contributions to our society.”
Indeed, John demonstrates every day what is possible. John’s Crazy Socks gives back by donating five percent of its earnings to the Special Olympics and producing Awareness and Charity Socks that raise money for charity partners like ACDS. John created the world’s first Down Syndrome Awareness Sock and two dollars from the sale of that sock goes to ACDS and the National Down Syndrome Society.
Mark Cronin explains, “We are looking to create jobs and hire people with disabilities. We want to show that our business succeeds because of the contributions of people with disabilities. We see what they can do, not what they cannot do.” The company sells socks, but John’s father explains, “We are also a content company, producing videos that show the world what John and his colleagues can do.”
The ACDS Gala will be held Friday, November 3 at Carlyle on the Green. The dinner will also honor Joshua Lamberg, CEO of the Lamb Financial Group. For tickets and information, click here or call Laurie Schaefer at 516.933.4700 x 124
