A Fun and Easy Way to Raise Funds for Your Non-Profit

At John’s Crazy Socks, we work with many non-profits and charities and offer a range of services for non-profits. We understand their need to find creative ways to raise funds. Listening to these non-profits, we created our Charity Fundraising Program. It is a fun and easy way to raise funds and spread some happiness.

Solving a Problem

Many non-profits tired of traditional programs that involved selling wrapping paper or candy. It became too complicated, required too much work and had become boring. Then came the pandemic which made in-person activities more difficult.

The challenge? Create a program that was easy to do, did not cost the charity any money, did not require any upfront payments, could be done remotely and was fun. Nothing boring.

To answer this challenge, we created the John’s Crazy Socks Charity Fundraising Program.

How Does the John’s Crazy Socks Charity Fundraising Program Work?

Once you enroll in the program, we give you a unique charity code. Here’s what follows:

  • You give that unique charity code to your supporters.
  • They visit John’s Crazy Socks and make a purchase.
  • During checkout, they enter your unique charity code.
  • The customer receives a free gift.
  • You get 10 percent from that sale.
  • Everyone is happy.

When your customers buy from us, they are helping us employ people with differing abilities, they help us give back and they help us spread happiness.

A Free Gift for Every Customer

We want to provide an incentive for people to support your Charity Fundraising Program, so we give them a gift. It will be a Mystery Sock. The free gift will be automatically added to the customer’s shopping cart upon entering the code.

That actual Mystery Sock will constantly change so it is possible that a customer who orders more than once will get different socks and two customers ordering at the same time may get different socks.

Why John's Crazy Socks?

John’s Crazy Socks is a father-son social enterprise inspired by John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome, and his love of colorful and fun socks, or what he calls his “crazy socks.” We're on a mission to spread happiness.

John’s Crazy Socks is a social enterprise with a mission to spread happiness. John Cronin suggested to his Dad that they go into business selling socks after he was unable to find meaningful work when leaving high school. (In addition to being an entrepreneur, John happens to have Down syndrome.) We opened in December 2016 and have bootstrapped our way to become the world’s largest sock store.

A key component of our business is to show what people with differing abilities can do. More than half our colleagues have a differing ability and we share their achievements through our social media channels and public events. We host tours and work groups from schools and social service agencies. John and Mark are frequent speakers at conferences and events and we advocate for the rights of people with differing abilities. That advocacy work has led to our membership on the Neurodiversity @Work Roundtable and the CEO Commission for Disability Employment. We have testified twice before Congress and spoken at the United Nations.

In addition, Giving Back is baked into everything we do. We start by pledging five percent of our profits to the Special Olympics. We have gone on to create awareness products that raise awareness and funds for certain causes. We donate that money to our charity partners including the National Down Syndrome Society, the Autism Society of America, United Cerebral Palsy, the American Cancer Society and the North Shore Animal League America.
