John Delivers Adoption Awareness Socks to a Family with a Newly Adopted Baby

Working with a new charity partner, Gift of Adoption, John’s Crazy Socks recently introduced their Adoption Awareness Socks that celebrate the joys of adoption. John’s Crazy Socks donates 10 percent from the sale of those socks to Gift of Adoption. On Saturday, John delivered a package of these socks to parents who recently adopted a new baby with the support of Gift of Adoption.

“I loved meeting Justin and Fabian and their new baby, Oliver. They are so happy and they loved the socks,” said John Cronin, Chief Happiness Officer at John’s Crazy Socks.

An Adoption Story Full of Love

Justin and Fabian had been working to adopt a child for some time when they got a call that a child needing adoption had been born in North Carolina. The excited parents immediately flew south excited at the prospect of welcoming a child to their family. They had prepared to stay two weeks in North Carolina. Justin works for a non-profit educational organization and Fabian owns a flower business.

Soon they discovered that their new son, whom they named Oliver, had been born to a mother with a substance problem. Their infant son had to spend time in the neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU). Oliver would need to remain hospitalized for eight weeks. Gift of Adoption came to support the new parents, providing a grant so they could stay in North Carolina with their new son.

The whole family is back in New York now, and while Oliver continues to face some medical challenges, at five months, he is thriving and Justin and Fabian are beaming with the love of new parents.

Elizabeth Jourdan, a Board Member from Gift of Adoption, joined John and Mark in meeting with Oliver and his new family. She smiled at the newborn child and thanked John for his support of Gift of Adoption.

Socks that Make a Difference: Adoption Awareness Socks

“We created our Adoption Awareness Socks to celebrate stories like Oliver’s. We want to call attention to the happiness that adoptions can bring and we want to support the work that Gift of Adoption does in making a difference for so many families,” said Mark X. Cronin, John’s father and co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks.

“Making our Adoption Awareness Socks makes me so happy,” said Co-founder and Chief Happiness Officer John Cronin. “They celebrate the love of parents bringing a new child into their family.”

John’s Crazy Socks and the Gift of Adoption Fund

Many customers reached out to John’s Crazy Socks suggesting they make Adoption Awareness Socks. And it was customers who led John’s Crazy Socks to the Gift of Adoption. The Gift of Adoption Fund provides grants for families adopting children that have serious medical needs, children who are at-risk of aging out of orphanages or foster care, and children at-risk of entering foster care or being separated from their siblings.

“I love the work that Gift of Adoption does,” said John Cronin.

“As we learned about the work of Gift of Adoption and the profound impact they have on so many families, we knew we wanted to support the Gift of Adoption Fund,” said Mark X. Cronin.

Sharon Komlofske from the Gift of Adoption Fund said, “We are so grateful to be part of the John’s Crazy Socks family. 100% of the donations from the sale of the socks will be directed to complete the adoptions of more children, giving them the foundation of family to unleash their full potential.”
