Salad Makes Me Sad Socks
These Salad Makes Me Sad Socks are absolutely perfect for certain days. I find myself sighing, just thinking about those days; when I’m restless, bored or just Dying for some Chubby Hubby ice cream… you know, the flavor with the chocolate covered pretzels. I wish I knew what actually brings on these feelings.Dorothy Parker sure could’ve used a pair of Salad Makes Me Sad Socks when she wrote:
I do not like my state of mind,
I’m bitter, querulous, unkind.
It’s great when I can recognize these emotions, before I roll my eyes at someone’s innocent remark and wonder where I put that recipe for macaroni and cheese with the seven different kinds of cheese.
My soul is crushed, my spirit sore,
I do not like me any more.
I know I put those Salad Makes Me Sad Socks on for a good reason this morning, before meeting a nice friend at the Chinese Buffet. That should make me happy, no?
I cavil, quarrel, grumble, grumble, grouse,
I ponder on the narrow house.
Of course, padding around the house in my Salad Makes Me Sad Socks, with their bright colors, is always a boost to the morale and a reminder to stay out of the fridge.
I shudder at the thought of men
I’m due to fall in love again.
Ah, perhaps it’s not the salad that’s making me sad at all!
(The poetry is an excerpt from Parker’s Symptom Recital.)
Note: "Sometimes salad makes me sad" appears on only the right-hand side of both socks.
