An Overview 

 

 We’re in the business of spreading happiness. At John’s Crazy Socks, we show what people with differing abilities can achieve, give back, deliver great socks that let people express themselves, and make personal connections with our customers. A big part of that connection happens online, andwe’re looking for aDigital Media Lead(a.k.a. the Content Wizard)to help us share our story and grow our community. 

This role focuses ongenerating content andmanaging ourorganic social media andemail/SMS marketing to engage our followers, grow our audience, and connect with customers. You will join our Marketing Team whichdetermines strategy,events, themes, sales, etc.Youwill take the work of the Marketing Team and turnit into a cohesive content calendar for social media and push marketing. You will then generate the content and post it to the various social media channels (we useMetricool to support this work). 

 

The key here is to connect with our customers, to help usbuild our community: we have 250,000 Facebook followers, 58,000 Instagram followers, and an email list of over 100,000. It is about our mission to spreadhappiness and show the world what people with differing abilities can do.

A Little MoreAbout the Job 

 

You will not be alone.You’ll work closely with ourvideo editor who will create videos to fill thecalendar and shepoststhose videos to our social media platforms. We have others who will write blog posts that you can use as the basis for posts. And other team memberswill provide photos and raw videos that you can use.You will not be responsible for paid advertisements.  

 

You will get to know everyone here (we are still a small organization) including our Sock Wranglers. You will get to know our charity partners and our customers 

 

We will ask you to manage our push marketing, which includes email and SMS. Wesend out three email campaigns per week, one of which is written by our co-founders. We want you to manage our email flows, whichare triggered by actions taken by customers (e.g., abandoned cart emails). 

 

We useKlaviyo as our push marketing platform. WhileKlaviyoexpertise is not necessary to start, we want someone who is curious and hungry to learn who can become a master of that system.  

 

You will have autonomy. No micromanagement here. We want you to lead the way. Take risks. Try new things. We want you to be creative. Most of all, we want to make thisa great place to work so you can do your best work.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Social Media Management: 

  • Manage organic posts for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter). 

  • Plan, schedule, and publish content usingMetricool. 

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team to shape a content calendar based on events, themes, and promotions. 

  • Engage with followers by responding to comments and messages ina timely, positive way. 

  • Collaborate with the video editor to incorporate high-quality video content. 

  • Stay on top of trends to make recommendations fornew content ideas. 

Email & SMS Marketing: 

  • Create and schedulethree email campaigns per week, including formatting text emails written byour co-founders. 

  • Monitor email and SMS flows to ensure they run smoothly and update content when needed. 

  • Analyze email/SMS performance (e.g., open rates, click-through rates) and suggest improvements. 

 

Content Creation: 

  • Design graphics for social media andemail using tools like Photoshop, Canva, or Illustrator. 

  • Take and edit photos when needed (many team members contribute photos). 

 

Analytics & Optimization: 

  • UseMetricool and email/SMS platform analytics to track engagement and performance. 

  • Provide reports and actionable insights to refine strategy. 

 

WhatWe’re Looking For 

  • Experience: 

  • Proven experience managing social media accounts (professional or personal brands). 

  • Hands-on experience with email marketing.  

  • Graphic design skills with tools like Photoshop, Canva, or Illustrator. 

  • Photography and editing skills are a plus but notrequired. 

Skills: 

  • Strong writing skills to create engaging, on-brand captions and emails. 

  • Ability to analyze performance metrics and translate them into action. 

  • Excellent organizational skills to manage a content calendar and multiple campaigns.
