World Down Syndrome Day is Coming – Celebrate with Crazy Socks!

Mark your calendars! March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day, a special day to celebrate inclusion, raise awareness, and spread joy. One of the most fun and meaningful ways people around the world join in? By wearing colorful, crazy socks!

At John’s Crazy Socks, this day is extra special to us. Our co-founder, John Cronin, is an entrepreneur with Down syndrome, and he’s on a mission to show the world what people with Down syndrome can achieve. John believes in spreading happiness, and what better way to do that than with fun socks that make people smile? We even made the official socks for World Down Syndrome Day

Why Do People Wear Crazy Socks on World Down Syndrome Day?

The tradition of wearing wild and mismatched socks started because chromosomes look like little pairs of socks under a microscope—and people with Down syndrome have an extra copy of chromosome 21.That’s why March 21 (3/21) was chosen as the official date to honor the three copies of the 21st chromosome that define Down syndrome.

Wearing crazy socks is more than just a fun fashion statement. It’s a way to:

Raise Awareness – Fun socks catch people’s attention and spark conversations about Down syndrome.
Show Support – Wearing them says, “I stand with my friends, family, and colleagues with Down syndrome!”
Celebrate Inclusion – Differences make the world a better place, and crazy socks area great way to show that.

John always says, “My extra chromosome means extra love!” And what better way to spread that love than with socks that celebrate the amazing Down syndrome community?
