At John’s Crazy Socks, part of our mission is to show what people with differing abilities can do. Part of that effort means we speak to people with differing abilities and their families about finding meaningful work. We want them to know that there are opportunities for them to work and how we need them to work. That commitment led us to speak with the Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) in the Massapequa School District.
Rick Smith, the founder and Executive Director of Hope Story, is a man of great exuberance and love, so when he came to visit John’s Crazy Socks, he did not come by himself, he brought his whole family.

Kim and the Sleepy Coffee Too team held a fundraiser on World Down Syndrome Day and the event featured a talk from John and Mark X. Cronin of John’s Crazy Socks. Supporters packed the room at J.P. Doyles restaurant to help Sleepy Coffee Too get off the ground and to hear the Cronins speak.
On Monday, John Cronin, co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks, had a day he will remember for the rest of his life. The New York State Legislature took time on World Down Syndrome Day to pass a resolution celebrating John and John’s Crazy Socks. 
Although John was optimistic about his future, he was worried that his keratoconus would potentially impact the career he is so passionate about. Congressman Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY-02) and Congressman Tom Suozzi (D-NY-03) introduced a Resolution supporting the designation of October as Down Syndrome Awareness Month and supporting the goals and ideals of Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
