John Cronin, co-founder and Chief Happiness Officer at John’s Crazy Socks, went desk to desk, person to person, handing out custom socks his company made for College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving of Long Island. Designed in the orange and green colors of the College Hunks and with their logo on the socks, each pair of socks brought a smile to the face of the recipient.
John said, “I love seeing the joy that my socks bring to people.”
“We were so excited to receive these socks,” said Ted Panebianco Chief Vision Officer, President & Owner of the Long Island franchise of College Hunks. “We love the design that matches our branding. We made them to give our staff and key supporters.”
“We loved the fact that John came to our office to personally hand out the socks. You could see how happy our staff were to meet him,” said Steven Nickels, CEO and Co-Founder of College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving of Long Island.
When Leah Heberer received her socks, she broke out into a huge smile. “I’m so excited,” she told John. “Thank you so much for coming to see us. You made my day. These are the best socks.”
Another employee said, “These are fantastic. I want to take my shoes off right now and put these on.”
Eric Natale grabbed his pair and said, “These are awesome. Thank you so much.”
“Everything about this experience has been great,” said Steven Nickels. “The socks are fabulous, our staff love them. Everybody is loving getting their socks. You could feel the energy in the office pick up.”
Making Custom Socks for College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving of Long Island.
John’s Crazy Socks loved making the socks for the College Hunks. John’s co-founder and father, Mark X. Cronin, said, “We worked with Ted Panebianco on the design, making sure we got the exact look and feel that they wanted. Our design team always strives to wow our customers.”
Customers love the custom socks because they are so different than the typical branded items. People have enough t-shirts and coffee mugs. But socks? People love the idea and they wear them. Every time they put on the socks, they think of the person or company that gave them the socks. Then other people see the socks and they talk about who gave them the socks.
Having John’s Crazy Socks make the custom socks adds to the experience. You help us employ people with differing abilities, you help us give back, most of all, you help us spread happiness.
John’s Crazy Socks has made socks for large corporations (e.g., Microsoft, EY, Google, etc.) and small businesses (e.g., lawyers, accountants, HVAC companies), schools (Holy Cross College, Chaminade High School, etc.) and non-profits (e.g., Special Olympics, the Salvation Army, PTAs, SEPTAs, etc.). We’ve made them for weddings, sweet sixteen parties and many, many fundraisers, conferences and gala events.

John’s Crazy Sock and College Hunks: Organizations with Much in Common
One company makes socks and the other moves people and hauls junk, yet they have much in common. Each has a purpose that transcends a normal business: John’s Crazy Socks is spreading happiness, the College Hunks are giving people a start in their careers and launching entrepreneurs.
Both organizations deliver transcendent customer service. The Hunks are known for their personalized and professional service which has made them the largest company of their type on Long Island. John’s Crazy Sock builds personal connections with their customers which is why John includes a handwritten thank you note and candy in every package.
Both have baked charity giving into their organizations. John’s Crazy Sock has an extensive Giving Back program that starts by pledging five percent of their earnings to the Special Olympics and has gone on to make awareness socks that raise awareness and money for causes like Down syndrome, Autism and Cerebral Palsy. The College Hunks donate two meals per every job completed and the company provides no-cost moves to domestic violence survivors stuck at home during the pandemic with their abusers. They recently provided free services to deliver much needed supplies to the Ukraine.
When John’s Crazy socks relocated to larger warehouse space, they turned to College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving of Long Island. “We were beyond pleased with the services they provided,” said Mark X. Cronin. “They anticipated what we would need, thought of every detail and provided professional service throughout. They made a massive undertaking easy for us.”
