John and Mark Present Police Tribute Socks to the Nassau County Police Activity League (PAL)

On Friday night, John and Mark X. Cronin, co-founders of John’s Crazy Socks, visited the Nassau County Police Activity League (PAL) basketball program. John presented his Police Tribute Socks to the Police Officers running the program and handed out socks to the athletes in the basketball program.

John’s Crazy Socks has introduced Police Tribute Socks that celebrate and honor police officers. John’s Crazy Socks donates 10 percent from the sale of the Police Tribute Socks to the Police Activity League (PAL) of Nassau County.

“I have so much respect for the work that Police Officers do and have become friends with many police officers. I wanted to create socks to thank all the police officers for what they do for us,” said John.

John said, “And I love what the PAL does for athletes like me. I was so excited to visit their basketball program because I play Special Olympics basketball. It was so much fun meeting the athletes and handing out gift bags of socks.”

John explained that he has a long connection to the PAL. His older brothers played PAL football and soccer and his father coached PAL football, lacrosse, and basketball.

“You could say that supporting the PAL is a family tradition,” said Mark X. Cronin, John’s father and co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks.

Tony Walker, President of The Special Needs Unit of the Nassau County PAL, set up the event and greeted John and Mark. He said, “We are excited to work with John’s Crazy Socks. We appreciate their financial support for our programs, but even more, we are grateful for their support of the programs we offer at the PAL and the support that John and his team show for the police.”

About John’s Crazy Socks

John’s Crazy Socks was inspired by John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome, and his love of colorful and fun socks—what he calls his “crazy socks.” He and his father, Mark X. Cronin, started the company as a social enterprise with a mission of Spreading Happiness™. With more than 4,000 socks, John’s Crazy Socks is now the world’s largest sock store. More than half their employees have a differing ability, and their Giving Back program has raised over $640,000 for charity partners like the Special Olympics, the National Down Syndrome Society, and the Autism Society of America.
