We first met Thomas in 2017. He came to John’s Crazy Socks to interview for a Sock Wrangler job. Thomas trained quickly and was soon ready to take the sock wrangler test. He picked six orders correctly within twenty minutes and we hired him immediately. To this day, he continues to pick orders with impressive speed and accuracy. When asked what advice he would give to other socks wranglers, Thomas says, “Get the sock order right.” We agree!
According to Thomas, the best thing about working at John's Crazy Socks is that we provide bagels on Tuesdays and Staff Lunch on Fridays. He especially likes when we serve Jersey Mike’s, pizza, or PDQ.
Thomas loves socks and shows up to work wearing holiday socks, food and drink socks, and character socks. When Thomas wears a Harry Potter shirt, he will coordinate the look with Books Turn Muggles Into Wizards socks.
After arriving at the office and greeting his colleagues, Thomas will ask whose birthdays are approaching. He knows the birthdays of all his family members. Thomas has an older brother named Patrick, parents Kim and Ralph, and a new sister-in-law named Julia. His dogs are Popeye and Porkchop. He is also an uncle (an uncle!) to nieces Elisa, Gianna, Madison, and Charlie and nephews Zach and Logan. It’s safe to say that many of these relatives wear John’s Crazy Socks, picked personally by Thomas.
In his spare time, Thomas watches TV and plays Mario Party (1-7)video games. His favorite movies are The Haunted Mansion and The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. He enjoys many television shows, including: Power Rangers (Mighty Morphin, Zeo, Turbo, In Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Wild Force, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, S.P.D., Mystic Force, Operation Overdrive, Jungle Fury, RPM, Samurai, Super Samurai, Megaforce, Super Megaforce, Dino Charge, Dino Super Charge, Ninja Steel, Super Ninja Steel, Beast Morphers, Dino Fury,and Cosmic Fury), V.R. Troopers, Big Bad Beetleborgs,and Beetleborgs Metallix.
He is a fan of Arthur and The Berenstain Bears books, Def Leppard music, and visiting Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. Thomas follows the New York sports teams Mets, Jets, Knicks, and Islanders.
It was an exciting day when Thomas received his first paycheck. Judging by the smile on his face, we can see that Thomas thought so, too. In a presentation attended by his colleagues, John and Mark Cronin recognized the important work that Thomas does. He shows what’s possible when you give people with differing abilities a chance.
