Meet A Happy Employee at John’s Crazy Socks - Gary

 Meet Gary

Gary, receiving specialist at John’s Crazy Socks, began working with us in February 2018. Initially hired as a sock wrangler, Gary’s responsibilities now include unboxing shipments, separating items, moving items from storage to pick locations, placing items in storage locations when we have overflows, and helping his supervisor, Andrew, with receiving. Andrew describes Gary as the John’s Crazy Socks’ utility player. “He does everything.”

Gary has been living independently for most of his adult life and recently moved into a new apartment. He is very close with his family and recounted memories of a special visit to Disney with them years ago. He loves to cook, creating dishes like pasta with sauce or scrambled eggs, just the way that his cousin taught him. In his free time, Gary enjoys watching baseball and football on television. He’s a big fan of the New York Mets and the New York Giants.

One of the joys of working for John’s Crazy Socks is our staff lunch Fridays. And when we gather to enjoy good food and good company, Gary provides the soundtrack. His taste can be described as a classic mix of the 70's and 80's, although we wouldn’t be surprised to hear anything at all. On today's playlist, we heard songs by Michael Jackson, the Eagles, Queen, The Who, Rush, Van Halen, the Rolling Stones, and the Beatles.

Every day, Gary shows what's possible when you give a person with a differing ability a chance.
