John’s Crazy Socks Displayed Custom Socks at the Long Island Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Conference

At John’s Crazy Socks, we love socks. Everyone knows that we have the world’s largest sock store, the one-stop shop for all your socks, where individual customers can find socks they love and love to give as gifts. But we also make custom socks, socks where you or your organization tell us the design you want and we make them for you.

John’s Crazy Socks took a booth at the Long Island SHRM Conference to show off their custom socks and meet with customers.

“We make really cool custom socks,” said John Cronin, co-founder and Chief Happiness Officer at John’s Crazy Socks. “I love seeing how happy the custom socks make people.”

John’s co-founder and father, Mark X. Cronin, explains, “We make socks for organizations that give them to customers, supporters and employees. We make custom socks for weddings, Sweet Sixteens, and Bar Mitzvahs. We know people love them because they re-order the custom socks.”

An employee at Boss Facilities, which had purchased custom socks, stopped by the booth to tell John how much she loved the socks and how the socks made everyone so happy. Another customer visitor had received a pair of socks from Island Wind and raved about how much she likes wearing them.

By the end of the conference, a half dozen firms had signed up to create custom socks.

Meeting Customers at the Long Island SHRM Conference

We are SHRM members and John and Mark spoke at the Long Island SHRM Conference on creating an engaged workplace. John’s Crazy Socks set up a table because so many human resource professionals are charged with purchasing promotional items and thank you items for employees. John and Mark were joined by Maria Lerner and Carol Cronin, the Mama Bear, who heads our B2B Services and manages our custom socks operation, and two sock wranglers Jonathan Bleecker and John Schneider.

“We are a hands-on business and making personal connections is very important to us. Customers love to meet our colleagues and see the people doing the work at John’s Crazy Socks,” said Mark.

Visitors saw first-hand the range of custom designs and styles that John's Crazy Socks can create. There are athletic socks and dress socks and knee-high socks. Some had organizational logos, others had faces on them or images of smiling faces or animals.

Mark added, “We have made custom socks for the largest companies like Microsoft and Google, but we also made them for local attorneys, accountants and financial advisors, a local HVAC company gives them out as gifts to new customers.”

Non-profits use them to thank their supporters and to raise money. We have had charities and PTAs design custom socks that they sold to raise money. Many like Holy Cross College and the Special Olympics have given them out as thank you gifts to donors.

Why Custom Socks from John’s Crazy Socks?

Attending a business conference, one readily sees that there is no shortage of promotional materials: pens, coffee cups, T-shirts, and the like. After a while, no one wants the same old stuff. One customer told us, “I have all the pens and coffee mugs I will ever need.”

Socks are different. People smile when they get their socks. And they wear them. Every time they pull on your pair of socks, they think of you and they feel good. That’s why custom socks from John’s Crazy Socks make great gifts.

Diane Palma, whose digho graphic arts company received custom socks, said, “The socks stand out. People love to receive them and they make a lasting impression.”

Mark X. Cronin, said, “You get so much more than just custom socks when you order from us. The socks are great – after all, we have over 30,000 five-star reviews – and we make the design process so easy. People have a lot of fun coming up with great designs. Each purchase helps us employ people with differing abilities – more than half our workforce has a differing ability – and you help us give back. At John’s Crazy Socks, we pledge five percent of earnings to the Special Olympics and raise money for charity partners like the Autism Society of America, the National Down Syndrome Society and United Cerebral Palsy. With our custom socks, you’ll be spreading happiness. When people wear the custom socks, they talk about your business and connect that to telling the story of John’s Crazy Socks.”

Making custom socks is a growing part of the business for John’s Crazy Socks. Mark X. Cronin said, “We’ve made them for large companies (EY, Allianz, Voya Financial, IBM and more) as well as small businesses, lawyers, doctors, and accountants. We’ve made them for charities (e.g., Special Olympics, Best Buddies, Parent-Teacher Organizations, etc.) that have used the socks to raise money. And we’ve made them for private events like weddings and sweet sixteen parties.”

We’d love to make custom socks for your organization or talk about our other Business Services like custom gift bags, fulfillment services or our Charity Fundraising Program. Click here for more information on making custom socks or call us at 1-631-760-5625.

About John’s Crazy Socks

John’s Crazy Socks was inspired by John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome, and his love of colorful and fun socks—what he calls his “crazy socks.” He and his father, Mark X. Cronin, started the company as a social enterprise with a mission of Spreading Happiness™. With more than 4,000 socks, John’s Crazy Socks is now the world’s largest sock store. More than half their employees have a differing ability, and their Giving Back program has raised over $650,000 for charity partners like the Special Olympics, the National Down Syndrome Society, and the Autism Society of America. Most of all, they are Spreading Happiness™.
