John’s Crazy Socks To Celebrate First Anniversary with Open House/Pop Up Shop Fundraiser for the Special Olympics on December 9

Melville, NY (November 29, 2017)John’s Crazy Socks will celebrate its one-year anniversary with an Open House/Pop Up Shop at its Melville office/warehouse on December 9th. John’s Crazy Socks has a mission to spread happiness—and what better way to make people happy than with a party? As with everything we do, we want to give back, so we are making the Open House/Pop Up Shop a fundraiser for the Special Olympics. For every sale we make, we’ll donate $1 to the Special Olympics.

The Open House/Pop Up Shop will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. It will take place at 40 Republic Road in Melville, New York, 11747. The party will feature balloon magic, a visit from Santa, tons of holiday cookies, and even churros! We will have giveaways and, of course, we will have loads of awesome socks. John will give tours of the warehouse at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

John’s Crazy Socks is an online business, so this event is a special opportunity for us to meet with customers and celebrate together. “I am so excited for this party,” says our co-founder, John Cronin. John is a 21-year-old man with Down syndrome, and it was his idea to start the business, along with his father.

The Huntington duo opened the store on December 9, 2016 with a mission to spread happiness.  Since then, they have shipped over 36,000 orders to every state in the U.S. and 37 other countries. “I love crazy socks, they are colorful and fun,” says John.  “They let me be me. My catch phrase is socks, socks, and more socks. The more people that have my socks, the more happiness we can spread.”

Mark X. Cronin, John’s dad and co-founder, explains that they have built the business on four pillars. “The first is hope and inspiration: we are showing what’s possible when you give someone a chance. Nearly half of our employees have a disability, yet they are the reason for our success. Second, we give back: we donate 5 percent of our earnings to the Special Olympics, and we raise money for our charity partners through our giving and our Awareness Socks. Third, we have socks for everyone to love, with over 1,400 styles, plus gift boxes, bags, and a Sock of the Month Club. Finally, we make each shipment personal by including a thank you note from John and some candy in every package.”

The John’s Crazy Socks Open House/Pop Up Store is open to all. No tickets or reservations are needed. The event will start at 10 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. The balloon artist will sculpt balloons from 10 a.m. until noon, and Santa will make an appearance from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. John will give tours of the warehouse at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
