“I am so excited that our socks will be in the Whimsy gift shop,” said John Cronin, co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks. “This lets us reach more people to spread happiness.”

The Whimsy Gift Shop and the Opportunity Center of Ponca City, Oklahoma

Like so many social service organizations caring for people with differing abilities, The Opportunity Center sprang to life in 1960 when some parents got together to determine a future for their children. They began by providing support and employment services and, in 1983, the organization expanded the mission to include residential programs and enhanced the existing vocational programs.

Today, The Opportunity Center is a non-profit 501(c)3 dedicated to the well-being of adults with developmental disabilities by providing vocational and residential services.  It is an endeavor to enrich the lives of their clients with a sense of independence and self-reliance while offering a safe and fun environment to live and work.

To increase opportunities for their clients, The Opportunity Center opened Whimsy, a gift shop that serves as an outlet to sell client-made crafts.  Clients produce candles, tea towels, jewelry, and much more. These items, along with many other unique items are available in their beautiful downtown location. The proceeds benefit the Center directly and your purchase provides continued work for their clients.
