Giving Back Report for October 2017

Giving Back Report for October 2017

Giving back is an essential part of our mission and we raised $4,988 for our charity partners in October 2017.

OUR GIVING BACK PROGRAM

Our Giving Back program continues to grow. We’ve recently added two new charitable socks to our collection, Law Syndrome Socks and ACLD Socks. For each of these new designs, we donate $2 per sock to the associated charity.

Our Law Syndrome Socks were designed and made in partnership with the National Down Syndrome society, to support their Campaign to End Law Syndrome. This campaign was founded to help change the laws that discriminate against people with Down syndrome and other disabilities, that prevent them from doing meaningful work where they can participate in and contribute to society. NDSS hopes to change the laws that force many people to choose between the empowerment and freedom of a job and essential benefits like Medicaid. People with disabilities shouldn’t be limited to certain wages or hours because of who they are, and we hope to help change that.

Our ACLD Socks were designed for the Long Island-based not-for-profit agency, ACLD (Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities). ACLD works to support learning disabled people and their families, to provide them with greater independence, to protect them from discrimination, and to help them find meaningful employment. John’s Crazy Socks also serves as a field test site for ACLD: We’re working with them to provide their members with employment in our offices.

ACLD initially ordered these custom socks to give out at their Employee Recognition Breakfast (John and Mark were the keynote speakers for that event). The recipients liked the socks so much that ACLD ordered more to give out at their annual gala. We carry the socks in our store so ACLD supporters can buy them, and so we can raise more money for this outstanding organization.

ADDITIONAL DONATIONS

We have a number of other donations to celebrate this month. When you add in the contribution from the Sock of the Month Club, the additional donation to the Special Olympics, donations to ACDS, ACLD, New Avenues to Independence, and Mamaroneck SEPTA, we raised a total of $4,988 for our charity partners in October.

We purchased gala tickets and a journal ad from ACDS, totaling an $1800 donation. That was a special night ACDS continues to be our most dedicated partner; they chose our founder, John Cronin, as their honoree. We couldn't be more proud!

Our support to ACLD came in the form of sock discounts and a journal ad for their gala where, as mentioned above, John and Mark were honored as well. These contributions totaled $850.

We donated to Mamaroneck SEPTA in the form of sock discounts totaling $275. Mamaroneck SEPTA ordered custom socks from us for their "Building Bridges" campaign, and also honored John and Mark at their annual gala! We were so inspired by their work, we chose to donate to them as well.

Finally, we gave a $125 donation to New Avenues to Independence. New Avenues to Independence has been providing services to people with disabilities since 1952. We're so happy to be able to support such an established organization that has helped so many.

We continue to work hard to grow our business so we can spread more happiness through socks. We work with our charity partners at every step of the way and we report on this activity to our customers who make it all possible. We have now raised over $25,000 for our charity partners.

If you have questions or would like to comment on this report, please contact Mark X. Cronin at mxcronin@JohnsCrazySocks.com.

As always, we thank our customers and supporters. We do this for you and without you, we would have nothing.
