How can a message of inclusion bring such division? How can a message of love bring out such hate? These questions haunt us every June as Pride month approaches and we prepare to celebrate what should be a time of joy and acceptance.

At John's Crazy Socks, we are on a mission to spread happiness, and much of that mission is based on inclusion. We want to champion the possibilities in each of us and in everyone we meet. Imagine working a full-time job and receiving a paycheck for $10 a week. Not $10 an hour, $10 for the entire week. For thousands of Americans with disabilities, this is reality. It is time to eliminate the subminimum wage. 

I write this article to urge the New York State Assembly to pass Senate Bill S.28 and end the discriminatory, dehumanizing practice of paying people with disabilities less than the minimum wage.

Designed by student contest winners, these socks feature fun, non-slip train track bottoms and highlight the LIRR’s SOCKS campaign. The collaboration celebrates creativity, safety, and community while spreading happiness one sock at a time.

John Cronin, co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks, joined LuMind IDSC for an inspiring evening focused on Alzheimer’s in the Down syndrome community. With 92% of people with Down syndrome at risk, this event highlighted the urgent need for research and support.
