Journal for Entrepreneurs Publishes Interview with John and Mark of John’s Crazy Socks

Mark X. Cronin, John’s partner and father, often says that John is a natural entrepreneur. The pair often speak with organizations of entrepreneurs and student entrepreneurs. “That’s our tribe,” says John. Now, Go Solo, an online journal for entrepreneurs, has featured John and Mark in their digital publication.

“I like doing interviews,” said John. With a mission to spread happiness by employing people with differing abilities and showing what people with differing abilities can do, each media appearance becomes an opportunity to spread their message.

“Every time John speaks to an audience or appears in the media, he helps change people’s minds about what someone with Down syndrome can accomplish,” said Mark.

John’s Crazy Socks Makes for a Great Entrepreneurial Story

Maybe you have heard how John and Mark started their business. When John could not find meaningful work leaving high school, John decided he would create a job for himself. He told his Dad, “I want to go into business with you.” Ultimately, John said they should sell socks and spread happiness.

From that idea and their willingness to take a risk, the father-son team built John’s Crazy Socks into the world’s largest sock store. You can read more about their story here or watch this video

About John’s Crazy Socks

John’s Crazy Socks was inspired by John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome, and his love of colorful and fun socks—what he calls his “crazy socks.” He and his father, Mark X. Cronin, started the company as a social enterprise with a mission of Spreading Happiness™. With more than 4,000 socks, John’s Crazy Socks is now the world’s largest sock store. More than half their employees have a differing ability, and their Giving Back program has raised over $600,000 for charity partners like the Special Olympics, the National Down Syndrome Society, and the Autism Society of America. Most of all, they are Spreading Happiness™.
