Giving Back Report for December 2023 - John's Crazy Socks

Giving Back Report for December 2023

Giving Back Report for December 2023

In December 2023, we raised $19,133.66 for our charity partners. Through December 2023, we have now raised more than $682,744 for our charity partners. Giving Back is an essential part of our mission, and we are excited by our ability to support others. We continue to learn that the more we can give, the happier we are.

Our Giving Pack Program

A core aspect of our mission at John’s Crazy Socks is to demonstrate the capabilities and contributions of people with differing abilities. Our Giving Back Program helps us to achieve this mission. By donating to charities like the Special Olympics, the National Down Syndrome Society, and the Autism Society of America, we enable them to do more work on behalf of people with intellectual disabilities.

John Cronin, the co-founder and inspiration behind John’s Crazy Socks, initiated the Giving Back Program by committing to donate five percent of our earnings to the Special Olympics even before we opened for business. John is a Special Olympics athlete and knows first-hand the difference the Special Olympics can make in the lives of all involved.

Since opening, we have added a growing list of Awareness Socks and Charity Socks that raise money for our charity partners. These include our Down Syndrome Awareness Socks, which John designed, and our Autism Awareness Socks. John loves to hand deliver the donations and our staff celebrates when we announce our Giving Back totals for the month.

Giving Back – December 2023

This report covers sales and activities from December 1 through December 31, 2023.

Giving Back Tuesday, November 28, 2023

On Giving Back Tuesday, we donated an additional 5% of our daily sales to Special Olympics – New York.  That additional donation was $680.85.  Nothing makes John happier than raising money for Special Olympics!

Town of Huntington Polar Plunge

On Sunday, December 10, John, once again, jumped into the icy waters of Long Island Sound to raise money for Special Olympics.  This is the tenth consecutive year that John has participated in the Polar Plunge.  This year, the John’s Crazy Socks team raised $2,120 for Special Olympics and John raised $865 on his own!

Special Giving Back Initiative: 12 Days of Giving

Anyone who is familiar with our company’s mission knows that nothing makes us happier than giving back to our charity partners.  This year, from December 1 through December 12, we pledged an additional $1 from each order to one of twelve of our charity partners.  Instead of designating a particular charity for each of the twelve days, we asked our customers to vote for the charity that would receive the $1 donation.  In addition, we pledged an additional $5,000 bonus to the charity that received the most votes.

The bonus winner with 26.4% of the vote was the National Down Syndrome Society!

As a result, we donated an additional $8,694 to our charity partners from the orders we received during the 12 Days of Giving.

These are the results of our 12 Days of Giving:
