Coming Together for Good: John and Mark Join the Sorrentino Family's 17th Annual Turkey Drive

At John's Crazy Socks, we believe that community matters. Giving back and showing up are at the heart of our mission to Spread Happiness™. This week, John and his dad, Mark, joined neighbors, elected officials, and community leaders at the 17th Annual Sorrentino Turkey Drive Fundraiserfantastic event that shows what can happen when people come together to help others.

A Community Tradition That Spreads Joy

For 17 years, Andre Sorrentino and his family have organized their annual Turkey Drive to make Thanksgiving brighter for families in need across Huntington, Long Island. The dinner brings together friends, local businesses, and public servants, all united by the shared goal of ensuring every family can enjoy a holiday meal filled with gratitude and love.

This year's event, held at the Dix Hills Fire Department, included a buffet dinner and the warmth of old friends catching up and new friendships forming. The proceeds from the evening will go toward providing turkeys and bags filled with holiday trimmings to local families.

Showing What Inclusion Looks Like

For John, being part of events like the Turkey Drive is about more than attending a fundraiser;  it's about being included in his community's life. He loves meeting people, sharing smiles, and being part of something that helps others. Inclusion doesn't stop at the workplace; it thrives when people of all abilities can take part in community events, volunteer efforts, and local traditions.

As Mark often says, "Inclusion happens when everyone is welcome, when everyone belongs."

That spirit was alive and well at the Sorrentino family's dinner. John and Mark spent the evening catching up with friends and meeting new faces, including elected officials, community leaders, and supporters who share a passion for helping others. Their smiles and conversations were a reminder that community connection is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to spread happiness.

Gratitude and Giving Back

We built John's Crazy Socks on the belief that gratitude and doing for others are the keys to happiness. The Sorrentino Turkey Drive is a beautiful example of that philosophy in action.  Year after year, it brings people together not just to raise funds, but to strengthen bonds and lift spirits.

We're grateful to Andre and his family for creating an event that does so much good. Their kindness and dedication inspire others to find their own ways to give back, whether that's through volunteering, supporting local causes, or simply showing up to help.

A Night to Remember

As John posed for photos and shared hugs and laughter with guests, he reminded everyone what true inclusion looks like: being part of something bigger than yourself and sharing joy along the way.

Events like the Sorrentino Turkey Drive show that communities grow stronger when everyone is invited to the table. That's what spreading happiness is all about.
