At John’s Crazy Socks, we believe that if we want to spread happiness with our customers and our community, we need to start at home. We need to take of our colleagues, we need to create a happy, fulfilling workplace for our team, too. Making John’s Crazy Socks a great place to work is one of our five guiding pillars, and that means celebrating the achievements, hard work, and special moments in our colleagues’ lives. This week, we did just that by throwing a fantastic birthday party for one of our very own – John Bleecker, one of our Sock Wranglers.
Who is John Bleecker?
John plays a crucial role on our team. As a Sock Wrangler (our fun name for the pickers in our pick-and-pack warehouse), he helps ensure that each order is bursting with happiness. He picks orders and is both fast and accurate. He helps deliver on our promise of same day shipping.
John is also a Special Olympic athlete, a great dancer and a train aficionado. He’s always a lot of fun at parties.
A Birthday Celebration, John’s Crazy Socks Style
Birthdays are a big deal around here, and John’s was no exception! We gathered the whole team to celebrate, filling our conference room with laughter and good vibes. The celebration was complete with a pizza lunch – because who doesn’t love pizza? But the real star of the show was the incredible, custom-made cake we had designed just for John.
A Train Cake Fit for a Sock Wrangler
John has a deep love for trains, so we teamed up with the amazing Cake Don to create something truly special: a 3-D train cake sculpture that looked like it was heading straight to Grand Central Station! The Cake Don outdid himself, crafting a stunning cake that was not only delicious but also a true work of art. Seeing the look on John’s face when he saw his train cake was priceless – it was a moment of pure joy.
Creating a Great Place to Work
We believe that when our team feels valued, it shows in everything we do. Celebrating milestones like birthdays is one way we make sure our colleagues know how much they mean to us. As Co-founder Mark X. Cronin says, “Celebrating each other’s achievements and special moments is how we build a workplace where people feel valued and connected.”
It’s all part of our mission to spread happiness, not just through the socks we sell but also in the environment we create here. We know our team members work hard, and it’s important to take the time to recognize them for the incredible work they do every day.
Here’s to Many More Birthdays Together!
Thank you, John Bleecker, for everything you do as our Sock Wrangler. We’re so lucky to have you on the team. Happy Birthday from all of us at John’s Crazy Socks – here’s to another amazing year of spreading happiness, one sock at a time! 🎈🧦
Be sure to check out the photos of John’s birthday celebration and that fantastic train cake below. And if you have a special birthday tradition of your own, we’d love to hear about it in the comments!
About John’s Crazy Socks
John’s Crazy Socks was inspired by John Lee Cronin, a young man with Down syndrome, and his love of colorful and fun socks—what he calls his “crazy socks.” He and his father, Mark X. Cronin, started the company as a social enterprise with a mission of Spreading Happiness™. With more than 4,000 socks, John’s Crazy Socks is now the world’s largest sock store. More than half their employees have a differing ability, and their Giving Back program has raised over $800,000 for charity partners like the Special Olympics, the National Down Syndrome Society, and the Autism Society of America. Most of all, they are Spreading Happiness™.
