Why I Plunge (Every Year!) 

This year will be my 11th Polar Plunge, that’s right, more than a decade of jumping into icy water for a cause I love: Special Olympics New York. 

I’m proud to be a Special Olympics athlete. I play basketball, soccer, snowshoe, track and field, and bocce. I’ve been an athlete for over 20 years, and it’s changed my life. Special Olympics has taught me teamwork, sportsmanship, and how to compete. It has given me grit and confidence, and it is so much fun. 

Without the Special Olympics, there would be no John’s Crazy Socks. That’s how important it is to me and our company. 

A Team Effort for a Big Mission 

This year, I’m captaining the John’s Crazy Socks Polar Plunge Team. My brother Jamie is plunging with me, and we’d love you to join our team or support us. Together, we’re raising money to help athletes across New York participate in sports completely free of charge to them and their families. 

So far, John’s Crazy Socks has donated over $150,000 for Special Olympics New York — more than any other Special Olympics athlete ever. But the polar plunge is different. This is personal.
