Tomorrow, we reach a milestone: we cut the ribbon on our first retail store.
John's Crazy Socks is opening in Huntington Village, a development ten years in the making.
Since the day we launched, customers have been asking us the same thing. Can you open a store? Can we come in and buy socks in person? Can we come and see John?
The answer is finally yes.
But we didn't open a retail store just to sell socks. We opened it because it lets us do more of what we're here to do. It
More jobs for people with differing abilities. More connection to the community we've called home since the beginning. More ways to show what inclusive hiring looks like in practice not as an idea on paper, but as something you can walk in and witness.
John has given tours to more than 4,000 people over the years. Those tours happened in our warehouse, where people could see the work: picking orders, packing boxes, shipping happiness around the world. Now the tour includes the shop floor too. Students from high schools and social service agencies will get richer, more varied experiences. We'll host birthday parties. Special evenings for schools. New reasons for the community to gather here.
A retail store is a place to buy things. But that's not really what this is.
This is a third space. A place where the community comes together. And where anyone who walks through the door can see, with their own eyes, what becomes possible when you stop underestimating people.
Join us for the ribbon cutting tomorrow, Thursday June 25th, with the Huntington Chamber of Commerce and elected officials who've been part of this community alongside us. Our Grand Opening runs Friday through Sunday.
Come see us. John will be there.
