Giving Back Report for October 2022
In October 2022, we raised $5,040.39 for our charity partners. Through October 2022, we have now raised more than $542,883 for our charity partners. Giving Back is an essential part of our mission, and we are excited by our ability to support others. We continue to learn that the more we can give, the happier we are.
Our Giving Pack Program
A core aspect of our mission at John’s Crazy Socks is to demonstrate the capabilities and contributions of people with differing abilities. Our Giving Back Program helps us to achieve this mission. By donating to charities like the Special Olympics, the National Down Syndrome Society, and the Autism Society of America, we enable them to do more work on behalf of people with intellectual disabilities.
John Cronin, the co-founder and inspiration behind John’s Crazy Socks, initiated the Giving Back Program by committing to donate five percent of our earnings to the Special Olympics even before we opened for business. John is a Special Olympics athlete and knows first-hand the difference the Special Olympics can make in the lives of all involved.
Since opening, we have added a growing list of Awareness Socks and Charity Socks that raise money for our charity partners. These include our Down Syndrome Awareness Socks, which John designed, and our Autism Awareness Socks. John loves to hand deliver the donations and our staff celebrates when we announce our Giving Back totals for the month.
Event: Fashion and Art Show – Another Face of Beauty
On October 8, John’s Crazy Socks staged a Fashion and Art Show in Huntington, New York. The event featured musical performances, a fashion show, and an art show where all the performers, models and artists had a differing ability.
The Fashion and Art Show took place at center court of the Walt Whitman Shops, one of the largest indoor malls in New York. At the heart of the stage there was a red carpet for the models to walk. To the side, the Spirit of Huntington Art Center set up an art show that featured the works of dozens of artists, several of whom walked the runway as models.
John and Mark X. Cronin, the co-founders of John’s Crazy Socks served as Masters of Ceremonies. They opened the festivities promising the crowd of several hundred people that they would see a show unlike anything they had witnessed before. The Drum and Bugle Corp from Family Residences and Essential Enterprises (FREE), started the proceedings with a rousing performance. One at a time, the models walked the runway, pausing to wave to the crowd to acknowledge the applause. The models came from several organizations: John’s Crazy Socks, The Viscardi Center, Special Olympics – New York, the Music Academy for Special Learners, The Spirit of Huntington Art Center, and FREE.
Mark X. Cronin said, “We organized this show as part of our effort to show what people with differing abilities can do. We want the world to see what is possible, what people can do when given a chance. And the models and performers were so happy. They have a memory to last a lifetime.” Mark was quick to add, “That is until we stage the next Fashion and Art Show!”

Nothing makes us happier than giving back to charity. We work together with our charity partners to help raise awareness for their causes. Then we report on this activity for our customers. Without you, none of this would be possible. Thank you.
