Giving Back Report for April 2017
April kept us busy at John’s Crazy Socks and that was a good for our charity partners. We are pleased to share that we raised $3,228 for our charity partners in April 2017. We’re on a mission to spread happiness and this makes us incredibly happy. The more we can do for others, the better off we are.
Our Giving Pack Program
When we opened for business in December 2016, we made giving back an essential part of our venture. We pledge 5 percent of our earnings to the Special Olympics. After all, John is a Special Olympics athlete and Mark as well as John’s two older brothers have all coached in the Special Olympics.
In recent months, we have expanded our Giving Back Program by creating a series of Awareness and Charity Socks that raise money for our charity partners. Our Awareness Socks are our best-selling socks in part because our customers know that money spent on those socks will go to their favorite charities. Nothing makes us happier than to help raise money for our charity partners.
Our co-founder and inspiration, John Cronin, has set the direction for our Giving Back Program. John always wants to do for others. Since John has Down syndrome, we selected charities that work with the disabled or have a special connection to our organization or family. We thank each customer for their generosity in supporting our business and our charity partners.
Giving Back – April 2017
This report covers sales and activities from April 1 – April 30, 2017. While our sales were down from the incredible spike in March, we had strong sales which means plenty of donations for our charity partners.
What Was New in April 2017?
We introduced our Shark Socks for the Special Olympics in April. We made these socks for the Commack Sharks (John plays basketball and runs track with them). John helped design the socks and they were such a big hit that we now offer them to all of our customers and donate money from the sale of each pair of socks to the Special Olympics.
Giving Back to the Special Olympics
We have pledged to give 5 percent of our earnings to the Special Olympics. While sales continue to be strong, we have not yet turned a profit, which is not surprising for a start-up that is only five months old.
While we are yet to turn a profit, we want to maintain our bond with the Special Olympics. We are making three donations to the Special Olympics based on sales in April:
A donation of socks to the Commack Sharks: |
$690 |
Money raised from selling the Shark Socks: |
$118 |
Money donated to the Special Olympics: |
$250 |

$1,058 |
Our Dedicated Charity and Awareness Socks
We have created a series of Dedicated Charity Socks as part of our Giving Back Program. Money from the sale from each pair of socks goes to the dedicated charity. The most important of these socks are the Awareness Socks. In April, we had five Dedicated Charity Socks, though we are expanding the number of charity socks (read below to learn how):

New Charity Initiatives
On Sunday, May 14, we introduced our Williams Syndrome Awareness Socks. The good news? These are beautiful socks and people love them. The bad news? We sold out our original order, but more will be here before the end of the month. We donate $2 from the sale of each pair of these beautiful socks to the Williams Syndrome Association.
Conclusion of the April Giving Back Report
We continue to work hard to grow our business so we can spread more happiness through socks. We work with our charity partners at every step of the way and we report on this activity to our customers who make it all possible. We’re excited to raise $3,228 this month and look forward to raising much more in the future.
