This July, we’re heading to Alabama, and we can’t wait.
John and Mark have been invited to Mobile by Project Outreach Gulf Coast to speak at two of their most meaningful events: the Night of Change fundraising dinner on Thursday, July 10, and the MERGE Conference for educators and students on Friday, July 11.
About Project Outreach
Project Outreach started with a simple act of kindness: students inviting a peer with autism to sit with them at lunch. That one moment has grown into a movement—one that builds friendships, leads service clubs, and creates inclusive school communities across Alabama.
Their mission speaks to our hearts. Like John’s Crazy Socks, Project Outreach is built on inclusion, love, and possibility. They see ability before disability. They build connections that lift everyone.
What We’ll Share
At the Night of Change dinner, John and Mark will share their story: how a father and son started a business that became the world’s largest sock store, all inspired by John’s love of colorful socks. They will talk about the challenges, the laughter, and what it means to create opportunities through meaningful work.
At the MERGE Conference, they’ll speak directly to teachers, students, and school leaders. These are the changemakers creating inclusive classrooms and leading the next generation. John and Mark will talk about breaking barriers and seeing what’s possible when we believe in people.
John says it best: “I have Down syndrome, but Down syndrome never holds me back.” And he means it.
Why It Matters
More than half of our colleagues at John’s Crazy Socks have a differing ability. We’ve seen firsthand the joy, the excellence, and the community that comes from inclusive hiring. We’re not a charity, we’re a thriving business. We don’t give jobs: we offer opportunities that are earned and celebrated.
This isn’t just our story. It’s a message for every student, teacher, and entrepreneur: Don’t put limits on people. See their potential. Be the one who opens a door.
Join Us in Spreading Happiness
We’re honored to join Project Outreach for these two incredible events. If you’re in the area, we’d love to see you there. Come meet John, hear our story, and be part of a movement that’s making schools, workplaces, and communities more inclusive and joyful.
Let’s keep moving forward—together.
