Hiring People with Disabilities Is Not Altruism, It Is Good Business

At John's Crazy Socks, more than half our colleagues have a disability. We did not hire them as a favor. We did not hire them out of charity. We did not hire them because we're nice guys. We hired them because they do great work.

Almost all of our colleagues working in our warehouse have a disability. Because of their work, we deliver on our promise to do same-day delivery. Because of their work, we achieve an error rate of 0.2 percent far better than other pick and pack warehouse operations. Because of their work, we earn a five-star rating for service from our customers. Because of their work, we earn a Net Promoter Score of 94.

We succeed because of the work that our colleagues with differing abilities do. They give us a competitive advantage.

What are you doing in your business? As the labor shortage grows, are you adjusting? Those businesses willing to hire people with disabilities will gain an advantage.

What are you waiting for? If John and I can do this with our small business, imagine what you can do with yours.

If you have questions or need help, reach out, we will be glad to help.
