Giving Back Report for May 2022
In May 2022, we raised $2,322.58 for our charity partners. Through May 2022, we have now raised more than $519,825 for our charity partners. Giving Back is an essential part of our mission, and we are excited by our ability to support others. We continue to learn that the more we can give, the happier we are.
Our Giving Pack Program
A core aspect of our mission at John’s Crazy Socks is to demonstrate the capabilities and contributions of people with differing abilities. Our Giving Back Program helps us to achieve this mission. By donating to charities like the Special Olympics, the National Down Syndrome Society, and the Autism Society of America, we enable them to do more work on behalf of people with intellectual disabilities.
John Cronin, the co-founder and inspiration behind John’s Crazy Socks, initiated the Giving Back Program by committing to donate five percent of our earnings to the Special Olympics even before we opened for business. John is a Special Olympics athlete and knows first-hand the difference the Special Olympics can make in the lives of all involved.
Since opening, we have added a growing list of Awareness Socks and Charity Socks that raise money for our charity partners. These include our Down Syndrome Awareness Socks, which John designed, and our Autism Awareness Socks. John loves to hand deliver the donations and our staff celebrates when we announce our Giving Back totals for the month.
Event: Special Olympics Spring Games
On Saturday, May 21, we attended the Long Island Special Olympics Spring Games in Farmingdale, New York. We set up a tent and table, had games that the athletes could play during breaks between their events, and, of course, we gave away some socks! We had lots of visitors who came by to play sock cornhole, create a sock design, or just to meet John. The winner of our sock design contest won a box of fun and colorful socks.
John is not only the co-founder and Chief Happiness Officer at John’s Crazy Socks but also a Special Olympics athlete! John competed in 3 events at the games – javelin, 100 meter and the 4x100 relay. John had a successful meet – winning 3 silver medals – and got to meet lots of new people.
We are so lucky – we have the best co-workers in the world. Several joined us to help at the event, including Gary R, Chelsie F, John S, Maria L, and Gail P. We couldn’t have done it without them! It was a terrific day.
Event: Hauppauge Industrial Association [HIA] Trade Show
On May 26, John’s Crazy Socks was a vendor at the HIA Trade Show at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood, New York. We got to meet and interact with other business leaders – both large and small – and let them know what John’s Crazy Socks can do to help them meet their business goals. Many people don’t know that we provide a whole range of B2B services – custom socks, corporate gifting, and speaking engagements. We love to help other small businesses to succeed and loved meeting our fellow entrepreneurs at the trade show.
John and Mark were at the show to speak to folks as well and “Sock Man” even made an appearance to hand out socks to attendees! Again, our work colleagues helped make the day a success, especially Nazira B and Kristie M.

Nothing makes us happier than giving back to charity. We work together with our charity partners to help raise awareness for their causes. Then we report on this activity for our customers. Without you, none of this would be possible. Thank you.
