Giving Back Report for June 2022
In June 2022, we raised $1,818.49 for our charity partners. Through June 2022, we have now raised more than $521,644 for our charity partners. Giving Back is an essential part of our mission, and we are excited by our ability to support others. We continue to learn that the more we can give, the happier we are.
Our Giving Pack Program
A core aspect of our mission at John’s Crazy Socks is to demonstrate the capabilities and contributions of people with differing abilities. Our Giving Back Program helps us to achieve this mission. By donating to charities like the Special Olympics, the National Down Syndrome Society, and the Autism Society of America, we enable them to do more work on behalf of people with intellectual disabilities.
John Cronin, the co-founder and inspiration behind John’s Crazy Socks, initiated the Giving Back Program by committing to donate five percent of our earnings to the Special Olympics even before we opened for business. John is a Special Olympics athlete and knows first-hand the difference the Special Olympics can make in the lives of all involved.
Since opening, we have added a growing list of Awareness Socks and Charity Socks that raise money for our charity partners. These include our Down Syndrome Awareness Socks, which John designed, and our Autism Awareness Socks. John loves to hand deliver the donations and our staff celebrates when we announce our Giving Back totals for the month.
New Awareness Sock: American Sign Language I Love You Sock
In June, we introduced our newest awareness sock – the American Sign Language I Love You Sock. The sock was designed by the winner of our 2021 Design a Sock Contest – Sierra Sapack – and features a beautiful design of a hand with “I Love You” in sign language. We have wanted to add a sock highlighting hearing-impaired awareness for a while and we just needed this memorable design to make it a reality. As with all of our awareness collection, we donate 10% of the sales of each pair to an organization affiliated with the issue and, in this case, we selected the Lexington School for the Deaf. The school, located in New York City, was established in 1864, and is the largest school for deaf students in the state of New York.
On June 2, John and Mark visited the Lexington School to tour the facility, meet the administration and students and were enormously impressed by the work they do every day. John’s Crazy Socks is proud to have the Lexington School as our newest charity partner!
Event: Townwide Fund Gala
On June 9, John and Mark Cronin attended the Townwide Fund of Huntington Diamond Gala. This is a special event for us because the Townwide Fund is a charitable organization with a long and successful history in our hometown, Huntington, New York. For the past 60 years, the Townwide Fund has striven to collectively raise the quality of life in the Town of Huntington by funding vital health and human services for underserved residents through local charities. John loves to get dressed up and network with people and the setting – Oheka Castle – is so beautiful that everyone was in wonderful spirits.
One of the highlights of the evening was the live auction. John’s Crazy Socks donated a “Design Your Own Custom Socks” experience as an auction item and John and Mark were their own auctioneers to promote the bidding. Incredibly, after a few minutes, there was a bid of $6,000 for the experience and then a second bidder emerged to match the winning bid. So, in a matter of a few minutes, John and John’s Crazy Socks was able to help raise $12,000 for the Townwide Fund to continue their work of providing support, programs, and services to persons in need in our local community. Truly, this was a fun, and rewarding, evening for everyone.
Event: Keller Williams – Carolinas 2022 Culture Summit
On June 21, John and Mark were in Charlotte, North Carolina as the keynote speakers at the annual Culture Summit of the Carolinas region of Keller Williams Realty. The subject of the speech was “Spreading Happiness Through Company Culture and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion”.
John and Mark spoke to about 300 real estate professionals who, at first, were skeptical as to how informative a speech by a father and son sock-selling team could be. By the end of the presentation, the crowd was on their feet, and everyone lined up to take a photograph with John.
As John and Mark say, one of their primary missions is to demonstrate what’s possible when you give an individual with a differing ability an opportunity. John demonstrates that every day and now hundreds of real estate professional in the southeast US know that too.

Nothing makes us happier than giving back to charity. We work together with our charity partners to help raise awareness for their causes. Then we report on this activity for our customers. Without you, none of this would be possible. Thank you.
