Wait, What Happened to the Store?

Wait, What Happened to the Store?

Hi, it’s John and Mark.

We haven’t gone anywhere.

After nine wonderful years of shipping socks around the world, creating meaningful jobs, and spreading happiness, we’ve decided to pause our direct-to-consumer online store.

This pause is intentional.

We’re taking time to reflect on everything we’ve learned, streamline what worked best, and rebuild the store so we can be stronger, more focused, and even more joyful. When we return in 2026, it will be with an updated version of John’s Crazy Socks, rooted in the same mission we’ve always had: spreading happiness and showing what people with differing abilities can do.

In the meantime:

  • Our custom socks and business services continue
  • In 2026, we will reintroduce our Sock of the Month
  • We can’t wait to show you what we are working on to make the store even better.
  • Our broader mission lives on through Abilities Rising

Most importantly, John’s Crazy Socks is not closing.

We’re building what comes next.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

We can’t wait to share what’s ahead.

Whale Women's Crew Socks

Whale Women's Crew Socks

We love these Whale Women's Crew Socks with their navy blue whales floating on a Bermuda blue sea. They’re beautiful and fun.

We also love these Whale Women's Crew Socks because 10 percent from every pair sold goes to the Whaling Museum and Education Center in Cold Spring Harbor. The Whaling Museum brings to life Long Island’s maritime past and helps us connect with the sea that surrounds us. They have artifacts, artwork and historical documents from when Cold Spring Harbor and much of Long Island was at the heart of the worldwide whaling industry. Better yet, they create exhibits and offer shows and programs that bring that world to life. Their focus is not just on the past, but how the past informs our lives today and will help shape our future. It is a small museum with a personal touch and creative staff.

Our co-founder and inspiration, John Cronin, loves to visit the museum. During visits there, he’s made toy boats and simulated scrimshaw. He’s danced to a rockabilly band during one of the Museum’s Whales, Tales and Ales Nights when they open the museum to visitors, have performers re-enacting scenes from the past and welcome local craftspeople to share their wares. What a great time the whole family had! So be sure to get your  Whale Women's Crew Socks before they swim on out of our warehouse for good!
