Wait, What Happened to the Store?

Wait, What Happened to the Store?

Hi, it’s John and Mark.

We haven’t gone anywhere.

After nine wonderful years of shipping socks around the world, creating meaningful jobs, and spreading happiness, we’ve decided to pause our direct-to-consumer online store.

This pause is intentional.

We’re taking time to reflect on everything we’ve learned, streamline what worked best, and rebuild the store so we can be stronger, more focused, and even more joyful. When we return in 2026, it will be with an updated version of John’s Crazy Socks, rooted in the same mission we’ve always had: spreading happiness and showing what people with differing abilities can do.

In the meantime:

  • Our custom socks and business services continue
  • In 2026, we will reintroduce our Sock of the Month
  • We can’t wait to show you what we are working on to make the store even better.
  • Our broader mission lives on through Abilities Rising

Most importantly, John’s Crazy Socks is not closing.

We’re building what comes next.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

We can’t wait to share what’s ahead.

Thou Art the Bomb Socks - Women's Ankle Sock

Thou Art The Bomb Socks

Thou Art The Bomb Socks are such a beautiful, unique combination of tradition and coolness. They are a work of art, depicting women from the 18th century to new age, suitable for the Greatest Generation to the Millennials (I’m told they are members of Generation Y). Thou Art The Bomb Socks remind me of the saying, “I may be old but I don’t have to be mature.” The illustration is a lovely silhouette from Victorian England and as classy as the PBS TV series—but this is a direct contrast to the Socks’ words.

This contradiction speaks to all of us, especially women. Or possibly, it’s because women aren’t afraid to express their varied feelings or opinions, even if they do seem inconsistent at times. My favorite author, Marianne Williamson, would be proud to wear Thou Art The Bomb Socks. In her little book, A Woman’s Worth, she says,

“A woman is an ever-deepening mystery that takes years and humility and great patience to fathom. Having been blind to this…we have failed to teach our children how magnificent a woman is.”

Thou Art The Bomb Socks need to take their place on our feet and in our culture! Williamson states, “Oppression of women is far from over, but the day is dawning when our daughters will not be held back for their passions or because they are bursting with power, strength and love.”
