Wait, What Happened to the Store?

Wait, What Happened to the Store?

Hi, it’s John and Mark.

We haven’t gone anywhere.

After nine wonderful years of shipping socks around the world, creating meaningful jobs, and spreading happiness, we’ve decided to pause our direct-to-consumer online store.

This pause is intentional.

We’re taking time to reflect on everything we’ve learned, streamline what worked best, and rebuild the store so we can be stronger, more focused, and even more joyful. When we return in 2026, it will be with an updated version of John’s Crazy Socks, rooted in the same mission we’ve always had: spreading happiness and showing what people with differing abilities can do.

In the meantime:

  • Our custom socks and business services continue
  • In 2026, we will reintroduce our Sock of the Month
  • We can’t wait to show you what we are working on to make the store even better.
  • Our broader mission lives on through Abilities Rising

Most importantly, John’s Crazy Socks is not closing.

We’re building what comes next.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

We can’t wait to share what’s ahead.

Smarty Cats Junior Knee High Socks

Smarty Cats Junior Knee High Socks

Show your appreciation for feline intelligence with our one-of-a-kind Smarty Cats socks.

As “nerdy-chic” is currently in fashion, you may ask yourself: Why are there certain symbols to represent intellect?

Glasses- I always wore glasses (as nerds so often do) because of an astigmatism, a defect present at birth, however glasses are associated with brains most likely because scholars during the 16th and 17th centuries were constantly reading, soaking up knowledge by candlelight, which consequentially ruined their eyesight and presenting the need for corrective lenses.

Bowties- Those who wear these types of neckties are usually doing so as a signature of sorts. It has long been associating with smarts- consider Bill Nye, William Churchill, Arthur Schlesinger, Donald Duck (who I assume kept his intelligence under wraps for Mickey’s sake). Rick Kaplan made it seem almost daring, “Wearing a bow tie is a statement. Almost an act of defiance.”

Awesome socks- I think we can all agree, wearing fun and “crazy” socks, like the Smarty Cats pair, makes you the smartest of them all. In fact, research shows that our clothing choices affect our cognitive processes. As per Elite Daily, “One might say there’s a palpable connection between crazy socks and successful people.”

The evidence is in: free your inner brilliance and put on your glasses, wrap your bowtie around your neck, and don a pair of our Smarty Cats socks. Let the world know that you’re rebellious, intriguing, and brilliant!
